Lampshades Course with

Saturday October 9th

Lighting has always played a vital part in enhancing the atmosphere of a room & the only way to create your own bespoke look is to make your own shade with your choice of fabric & style.  Virtually any materials can be used from the lightest weight chiffon to heavier fabrics, decorative paper or pictures, anything that is flexible enough to form easily.  With the help of your own imagination, it is quite easy to create your own design!

There are many styles to create but there are three main types of lampshades: tailored, pleated and a hard or firm frame.

The hard or firm style lampshade is the simplest one to make.  The secret is in the adhesive backing, known as Selapar.  It is easy to work with and can be used with most fabrics or decorative paper.   This one day course shows you how to make this style of lampshade.   The cost of the day includes all the materials to make a 10” drum (25cm).  All

you will need to bring is the fabric of your choice & your imagination!  Beginners & improvers are welcome.

Please come equipped with the fabric of your choice (open weave fabrics are not suitable as dust can stick to the exposed area of adhesive backing).  You can choose your fabric depending on the type of light you want your finished lampshade to give off: red and yellow tones will give you a warm light, while greens and blue tones will give you a cool light.

Items to bring:

  • You will need to bring a piece of fabric 150cm x 50cm (minimum size dependent upon the size of the pattern or fabric weave
